I was born across the East River in Doctor's Hospital (long now condos) near the United Nations, minutes after this game. Twelve years later, just off a big Little League season, I was waiting to catch the boat to Martha's Vineyard. I saw a handsome gentleman waiting in the ticket lobby, approached him and said quietly, "Aren't you.... ?" but before I could say, "Jackie Robinson" he leaned over and whispered, "Yes I am."
