The Yankees went on to win the AL pennant for the 12th time in 14 seasons. In 1964, they won for the 14th time in 16 years before the dynasty finally ended in 1965, when the Minnesota Twins won the AL championship.

Of all the baseball games I have been to, this one stands out as one of most memorable. I was one of 35,147 in attendance and had to sit on the terrace beyond the right field fence in old Municipal Stadium. It was a Saturday and the Yankees and the A's played a twi-night doubleheader, as part of a 5-game series.

The second game was won 11-7 by the Yankees when they scored 4 times in the 9th inning. Bob Turley started the game but didn't figure in the decision. Three Yankees also homered in that game--Dale Long, Bobby Richardson, and Clete Boyer.

It was a night I will probably never forget and such a thrill to see one of the greatest baseball teams ever assembled. The Yankees wen
