At that game- and seeing hero Mantle hit a home run, a grand slam none the less, (last GS of his career), was unbelievable- landed 3 rows in front of me- RF upper deck. Also remember DiMaggio hitting a legit LF double in the old timers game earlier that afternoon. Seeing Joltin' Joe and the Mick, both hitting- a yankee fan's dream. Maris was PH that day- who could ask for more- also met Mickey at his restaurant and autograph at book signing later in his life. Still consider him the best and my all time favorite Yankee.

The site shows that Marcelino Lopez was the pitcher and Buck Rodgers was the catcher when Mantle hits his grand slam home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning in this game.

Just found the souvenir program for sat. July 23 1966. We took the train from Springfield mass. Bleacher seats were $1.50.Iwas 9 yrs. old. I don't remember the grand slam from the Mick but my brother got to slap Joe Di Maggio's hand!

My dad took me by train from Providence. I was 11 and It was great to see The Mick hit a slam, the place went nuts. I was sad to leave with a loss though.

It gives me great joy to see Mickey Mantle hit that grand slam again on the computer game! I was at that game, which was Old Timers Day commemorating the 25th anniversary of Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak.
The Daily News caption under photo of Mickey hitting this home run read, "Full House, Hearts Showing and Grand Slam for Mickey!" There is not a crowd anywhere today that can rival the crown noise that came with Bob Shepard announcing, " Now batting for the Yankees, number 7, Mickey Mantle". The crowd always cheered the loudest for him. He will always be my hero!
