1 Mays and Staub--Mets at the peak

This was Willie Mays's first game as a Met. In his first at bat (leading off the first inning) he walked, and scored on Rusty Staub's grand slam against Sam McDowell. In the fifth, with the score tied, Mays hit the game winning solo homer. This was part an eleven-game winning streak for the Mets that brought their record to 25-7. It was downhill the rest of the way.
