I was 14 years old, my brother and his two buddies were 15 and 16. This was especially important since the 16 year old friend had a car and we all went to Wrigley Field for that game. My brother and I grew up in Kentucky and were staunch Reds fans and we began in the first inning saying "only 26 more for a no-hitter" just to badger our two friends. But it happened just under three hours later...the Reds won a ten inning no-hitter and we were there. My younger brother and his 10 year old son just happened to be at last night's Reds' no-hitter in Cincinnati against the Giants on July 2, 2013...this is kind of a "family thing." Great memories...!

This is also the 1st time a pitcher who threw a no-hitter went more than 9 innings.

I attended this game and sat in a box seat up a little from the Cub dugout. The seat cost $3.50 as I recall. It was a hot day and Maloney was sweating heavy. He was kind of wild. He walked ten batters. However, the Cubs could not touch him for a hit. I was thrilled by it. I was only sixteen at the time.
