The 1953 home run is one of the most famous homers of all time - one of Mantle's longest. The only way to really know about this 1956 game would be to see if you can get a Washington Post report of that game. It would probably mention it if it left the park. Thanks for your comments.

My Dad took me to the fame, my first.

We were impressed that Mantle hit his first pitch, as it appeared to us, over the left field bleachers. The only report of Mantle hitting out of the park at Griffith Stadium refer to the Chuck Stobbsgopher in 1953.
